Sporting Clube de Portugal has expressed interest in collaborating with Hengqin to create a training system for young footballers. The intention was expressed during a visit earlier this month by a delegation from the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin to the Portuguese club.

The delegation analyzed the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy model, with Sporting demonstrating its willingness to implement a high-level project in the Hengqin area. This initiative is part of a broader strategy by Macao to develop soccer, which includes hiring a European technical team to train young people.

Events such as a Hengqin-Macau cup and the recruitment of young people from the Greater Bay Area for games in the territory are also planned, with a view to promoting sport.
