Dadi-Juneng Angola recently opened a metallic silicon factory in Panguila, Bengo province, with two furnaces with an estimated production capacity of 2,000 tons per month.
Budgeted at USD 85 million, the factory infrastructure (built on an area of 3.5 hectares, out of a total of 50.8 hectares) has a 220 KVA electrical substation and a water treatment center with a capacity of 8,000 cubic meters. Critics believe that the new factory will place Angola among the leading producers of metallic silicon in the Southern Region.
During the construction of the factory, 860 jobs were created, 800 of which were filled by Angolans. According to official data, the project is part of the government's strategy to create industrial hubs and diversify the economy with a direct impact on job creation and the development of local human resources.
