Zhou Damin, Changjiang Chair Professor at Yunnan Normal University, recently received a certificate of honor from Councilwoman of São Paulo Edir Sales in recognition of his attention to the Chinese immigrant community in Brazil and his contribution to promoting cultural exchanges between China and Brazil.
In his blog published on Brasil 247, he pointed out that, as a key member of BRICS and the country with the greatest development potential within the group, Brazil has unique advantages in terms of geopolitical security, natural resources, social culture, and popular support.
According to Zhou, Brazil’s advantages are not only related to the country’s own development, but also add continuous vitality to BRICS cooperation. “As strategic partners, China and Brazil have expanded their exchanges in the economic, cultural, and educational sectors. With the expansion and strengthening of the BRICS mechanism, the Sino-Brazilian relationship will play an even more important role in Global South cooperation,” Zhou said in the article.
