In a recent exclusive interview with Inforpress, ambassador of China to Praia, Zhang Yang, said that Cape Verde is a very important country in Africa and should therefore exert more influence in the global governance system. “I think the two countries [China and Cape Verde] can join hands to build a world with a fairer and more equitable global governance system,” appealed the representative from Beijing. 

He called on Cape Verde to join the Chinese initiative for global governance so that the two countries can jointly defend the international system centered on the United Nations and the international order based on international law.

Zhang Yang also expressed his desire for the archipelago to join the so-called Framework Agreement for the joint development of the economic partnership between the two countries. This agreement provides for China to apply zero tariffs to all products from African countries with which it has diplomatic relations.
