The IV ChinaBrazil Film Festival takes place between August 26 and 28 at Cinesystem Belas Artes Botafogo, bringing together 12 films - six Chinese and six Brazilian - with free admission. The initiative is curated by producer and documentary filmmaker Hélio Pitanga and conceived by Arthur Chen, a Chinese businessman based in Brazil who works in film distribution.
The festival has established itself as a space to explore the film production of each country, bringing together works never before seen on Brazilian screens and national titles that have already won over audiences at festivals and cinemas. As in previous editions, the festival will honor each film with the Arara Azul award, recognizing its relevance to Brazilian and Chinese cinema.
Arthur Chen emphasizes the importance of the exhibition: “China and Brazil have a partnership in trade, but still little in the audiovisual field. The ChinaBrazil Exhibition strengthens cultural exchange and encourages film co-productions and licensing.”
