The Madeiran startup FootAR, which is part of the Portuguese consortium eGames Lab, won the “Best Application” award at VRAR World Expo 2025, an event held in Shanghai, China. This is the most prestigious Asian event dedicated to Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, which took place on May 15th and 16th.
David Olim, CEO of FootAR, based in Funchal, received the award. This startup has established itself as a global benchmark in the development of immersive AR/VR solutions applied to sport. “The company was recently highlighted as one of Portugal's most promising start-ups, according to the Scaleup Portugal Report 2024, drawn up by BGI and EIT Digital, among other national and international recognitions,” points out a press release.
For the CEO, this award “represents recognition of the tireless effort and dedication of our fantastic team, and is also proof that Portugal continues to bring new worlds to the world, also in the areas of technology and innovation”.
