On April 29, Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) welcomed a delegation from China's National Space Administration (CNSA) to further negotiations on the development of the CBERS-5 satellite, as part of the Sino-Brazilian space cooperation program.

The minister highlighted Brazil's commitment to a technological leap in the space sector and its intention to consolidate CBERS-5 as a symbol of joint innovation between countries in the Global South. “We have decided to make an unprecedented investment in the Brazilian space program. We want to do this together with China, renewing our partnership and meeting the expectations of our presidents,” she said.

During the meeting, the chief engineer of the China National Space Administration, Li Guoping, celebrated the renewed commitment between the two countries. “It is an honor to be here to continue building this project with Brazil. CBERS-5 is more than a satellite—it is a symbol of mutual trust and a shared vision for the future,” he said.
