The Maricá City Council recently signed a technological partnership with a group of Chinese companies to build a tractor factory for family farming. The agreement provides for an investment of R$ 200 million and the installation of the plant on a site in the district of Ponta Negra, near the RJ-106 motorway.
Mayor Washington Quaquá highlighted that the investment represents an important step in building a new economic cycle for the city. ‘This factory transforms oil resources into an industry capable of revolutionising family farming, generating skilled jobs and increasing municipal revenue. The tractors will modernise food production in the country, which is still very dependent on rudimentary tools,’ he said.
Secretary of Government Arlen Pereira also celebrated the progress, stating that the Chinese experience inspires the Global South. ‘China shows paths to development, and Brazil can no longer miss opportunities. We will develop Maricá and the country,’ he declared.
