The Timing Group organized the first business mission to China, led by Ricardo Mariano, the group's chief executive officer (CEO), bringing together 10 Portuguese entrepreneurs, mostly with projects based in the Algarve. This is an unprecedented initiative that marked a decisive step in the internationalization of the Portuguese business community in China.
For a week, the group participated in the Canton Fair, the largest trade fair in the world. The Portuguese presence aroused great interest and was considered an absolute success by the participants.
The mission also included highly prestigious institutional visits, namely to Sonae's facilities in Guangzhou, where they were received by its general manager, Duarte Rocha, and to the Portuguese Consulate, hosted by the consul general, Tomás Azevedo, reinforcing the role of economic diplomacy in bringing the two countries closer together.
The goal set by the Timing Group is ambitious: within three years, to fill a plane with Portuguese businesspeople bound for China, promoting a solid bridge of opportunities, business, and knowledge between Portugal and the Chinese market.
