The President of the Niterói City Council, Rodrigo Neves, recently hosted the Consul General of China in Brazil, Tian Min, for a dinner at Solar do Jambeiro. The meeting had an institutional nature and aimed to strengthen cooperation between the municipality and the Chinese consulate in areas such as innovation, culture, education, and economic development.

During the meeting, Consul General Tian Min stated that Brazil and China are experiencing the best moment in their bilateral relations and highlighted the consulate's interest in expanding collaboration with Brazilian cities. She also noted that since 2002, Niterói has maintained a sister-city agreement with Jiaxing, emphasising that the meeting reaffirms the mutual interest in deepening institutional exchanges between Niterói and China, strengthening the friendship between the two peoples and exploring new opportunities for cooperation in various fields.

“We believe in the potential to expand partnerships with China, focusing on science, technology, and culture. Our city already has a history of relations with China, and we want to strengthen that bridge,” said City Council President Rodrigo Neves, who is the president-elect of Mercocidades.
