More than 171 thousand vehicles were sold in Brazil in January

Sales of new cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses totaled 171.2 thousand units in January, an increase of approximately 6% compared to January of the previous year and the best result for the first month of the year since 2020. The data was released on February 4 by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave).


Among the highlights of the survey, the Chinese company BYD made great progress by reaching eighth place among the largest shares in automobile sales, with a 5.26% share in the sector. The company's best-selling model was the Song Plus hybrid utility vehicle, with 3,185 units.


When combining the car and light commercial vehicle segments, BYD ranked ninth in January, with 4.12% of the market, compared to 3.09% at the end of 2024, according to Fenabreve.


According to automotive consultancy Bright, Chinese brands accounted for 8.82% of new vehicle sales in Brazil in January.
