The Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao, signed on May 25 a cooperation framework agreement with City University of Macau.

A Delegation from Zhuhai Municipality, headed by the Vice-Mayor and member of the Standing Committee of the Zhuhai Municipality’s Party Committee, Mr Zhu Qingqiao, visited on May 21 the office of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao.

A delegation from the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) visited Fujian Province from May 16 to 18 to take part in the “Dynamic Macao Week” activities in Fuzhou Prefecture. The programme included setting up a “Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion”, visits to local companies and other economic and trade promotion activities.

The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao and the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the Yangzhou Municipal People’s Government jointly organised on May 10 the “Meeting on Cooperation on Production Capacity between Yangzhou, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries”.

In order to promote investment and trade cooperation between Jiangsu, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries and to open up new areas for cooperation, as part of Macau’s role as a platform, the Meeting of the Working Group for Investment and Trade Cooperation Promotion under the Council of the Summit for Commercial and Industrial Development of Jiangsu, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries, was held on May 9 in the city of Nanjing.

The Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen, led a delegation on a visit to Anhui Province’s Hefei Municipality on May 7 and 8. The visit was part of the effort to boost cooperation between provinces and municipalities in Portuguese-speaking Countries and in Mainland China, and to promote in a pragmatic way cooperation and exchange in areas such as production capacity

Ms Xu Yingzhen, Secretary-General of Forum Macao, led delegates from the secretariat in attending on May 4 in Beijing, the 2nd Portuguese Language and Culture Day of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries. It was organised by the respective embassies to China, of the Portuguese-speaking Countries. The event featured a photo exhibition about Forum Macao as well as a display of products from Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The new Portuguese Ambassador to Beijing, Mr José Augusto Duarte, visited on April 30 the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao). He was joined by the Consul General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong, Mr Vítor Sereno.

Ms Glória Batalha Ung has been named by the Macao SAR Government as Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao. Her appointment was effective from May 1, 2018.

Ms Echo Chan Keng Hong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao, will terminate her duties on April 30, 2018.

With the aim of promoting tourism cooperation between Mainland China, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries, as well as to facilitate the implementation in Macao of the “One Centre, One Platform” policies, the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) attended the Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo.

A delegation of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), led by Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Rodrigo Brum, visited Guangzhou, in Guangdong Province, from April 14 to 15, to participate in the 123rd China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair).
