A seminar on food-safety inspections in China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, jointly organised by the Food Security and Economic Activities Inspection Forum of CPLP (FISAAE-CPLP) and the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), took place on July 1 in the Lotus Room of the World Trade Center Macau.

In a bid to enhance economic and trade cooperation involving China, Africa and Portuguese-speaking Countries, a delegation led by Mr Ding Tian and Mr Rodrigo Brum, Deputy Secretaries-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) visited Changsha, in Hunan Province, from June 26 to 29 in order to take part in the “1stChina-Africa Economic and Trade Expo”.

The 10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum, held at the Venetian Macao’s convention and exhibition centre, featured on May 31 a parallel session on “Maximizing the Role of Finance in Promoting Practical Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries – Focusing on Project Investment and Financing, Sharing Successful Experience and Exploring Cooperation Mode”.

On May 31, a delegation led by Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Wang Bingnan, visited the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao to meet with China’s representatives in that body.

The closing ceremony of the Seminar on Finance Cooperation between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries, an event organised by the Training Centre of Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao and supported by the City University of Macau, was held on May 30 at the Grand Ballroom of MGM Macau.

On May 30, former President of Timor-Leste Mr José Manuel Ramos-Horta paid a visit to the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao. He was welcomed by: Deputy Secretaries-General Mr Ding Tian and Mr Rodrigo Brum; the Coordinator of the Support Office, Ms Teresa Mok; and the Representative of Timor-Leste in the Permanent Secretariat, Mr Danilo Henriques.

A delegation representing the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao visited on May 24 the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, for discussions themed on the “Belt and Road” initiative.

On May 29, Deputy Secretaries-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Mr Ding Tian and Mr Rodrigo Brum, met with the Executive Director of the International Tropical Timber Organization, Mr Gerhard Dieterle, and other representatives of the organisation, at the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao.

A delegation led by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), visited Yichang Prefecture, known as the World Capital of Water and Electricity, from May 21 to 23.

A delegation of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), led by Deputy Secretaries-General Mr Ding Tian and Mr Rodrigo Brum, visited Wuhan and Yichang, in Hubei Province, from May 19 to 23.

On May 13, two Deputy Secretaries-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Mr Ding Tian and Mr Rodrigo Brum, took part in the third edition of the Portuguese Language and Culture Day of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries. The day was held in Beijing by the embassies to China of Portuguese-speaking Countries.

A Forum Macao delegation travelled to Guangzhou on May 8 and 9 to take part in an edition of the “Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair” held in that city. The event in Guangzhou included a Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion.
