A meeting to review the external evaluation report on the achievements over the past 15 years of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) took place on January 16 and 17 in Macao. More than 30 participants attended the meeting.

A delegation led by the Assistant Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Mr Ren Hongbin visited on January 16 the office of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao). He was accompanied by the Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), Ms Li Huaying.

The fourth meeting of the “Working Group on Cooperation in Capacity Production” of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) was held on December 16, in Beijing, to help implement Forum Macao’s “Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Co-operation in Production Capacity”.

The Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao, the Consulate-General of China in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the governments of the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo, and the Brazil-China Business Council, co-organised on December 9 a seminar on innovation in international trade in services.

The Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), Ms Xu Yingzhen, led a delegation on December 6 to 9 to accompany the Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Mr Wang Bingnan, on his visit Brazil.

Representatives from the Portuguese-speaking Countries to the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao attended – at the invitation of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR – a reception celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR.

A delegation from the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao took part in the “Macao Dynamic Week” activity in Changzhou, Jiangsu, from 21 to 23 November. The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao set up a Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion – on a temporary basis – as part of the initiative. The Pavilion aimed to boost economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between Jiangsu, Macao and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The 11th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, organised by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), was successfully held in October. More than 13,500 visitors were attracted to the series of activities arranged for the event.

The opening ceremony of the “Tropical Timber Investment and Trade Colloquium between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries and Cooperation on Global Green Supply Chain for Forest Products” was held on November 18 in the Lotus Room of the World Trade Center Macau.
