On January 20, Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), Mr Paulo Jorge Rodrigues do Espírito Santo, met with the President of the Council of the Portuguese Communities (CCP) for Asia-Pacific, Ms Rita Botelho dos Santos, and Counsellor of the CCP, Mr José Pereira Coutinho.

The 12th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, organised by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, saw the Cultural Week employ for the first time, due to the pandemic, a two-pronged approach, namely online and offline formats.

The Promotion Session for Investing in the Portuguese-speaking Countries – part of the official programme of the 11th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) – was held at Cotai Expo in Venetian Macao, on December 3.

The Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) has organised the Online Workshop on the Use of Traditional Medicine to Fight COVID-19, in cooperation with the Guangdong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park.

The launch ceremony of the “2020 Portuguese-speaking Countries Development Report” and a seminar on the socio-economic development of Portuguese-speaking Countries post-pandemic, took place on November 25. Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), Mr Ding Tian, participated in the ceremony and delivered a speech via videoconference technology.

The exhibitions of artists from, respectively, Portugal, Timor-Leste and Macao are open to the public since November 19, at the China – Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex. The first-ever “1+3” Exhibition runs from November 19 to December 6 at the China – Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex. It is the final activity of the 12th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, the latter organised by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao).

The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao and Guangdong-Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park held in November an online training course on the use of traditional medicine to tackle COVID-19. The training initiative was supported by the Macao SAR Health Bureau and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China.
