On the evening of October 3, the cultural exchange activity “China-PSC Exchange: Macao’s Role as a Bridge” kicked off at BIG Shopping Park in Beijing as part of the 17th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. The cultural week is organized by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao and aims to strengthen cultural exchanges and people-to-people bonds between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs).

In his speech, Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng noted that the Strategic Plan for Economic and Trade Cooperation, adopted at the 6th Ministerial Conference of Forum Macao in 2024, highly commends the pivotal role of the cultural week in promoting China-PSC cultural exchanges and enabling participating countries to reach a unanimous agreement on enhancing exchanges with mainland China. As an important part of advancing all-around, mutually beneficial cooperation between China and PSCs, the cultural week is being held simultaneously in Beijing and Macao for the first time. This arrangement highlights Macao’s unique role as a bridge between China and PSCs and vividly demonstrates Macao’s integration into national development. The Beijing activity features performances by the China Broadcasting Performing Arts Troupe, performing arts groups from nine PSCs, and the Macao band Soler, with traditional and new media channels in place to expand its reach. Another highlight is the visit by PSC artistic groups to tourist attractions in Beijing, which will facilitate a deeper understanding of China. Cultural performances in Beijing will run for two days (October 3 and 4 from 18:00 to 21:00). All residents and tourists are cordially invited to attend and share in the joyous atmosphere of China-PSC cultural exchange.
