The Handicraft Fair, a highlight of the 17th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, officially opened at 3:00 p.m. on September 27. This edition specially invites two representative inheritors of high-level intangible cultural heritage projects from Zhejiang Province to demonstrate the exquisite techniques of Pujiang Papercutting and “Cross Flower” embroidery on-site, allowing the public to experience the charm of traditional Chinese handicrafts firsthand. Simultaneously, handicraft artisans from nine Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs) will set up distinctive stalls at Fisherman’s Wharf, showcasing a diverse array of exquisite handicrafts, including ceramics, weaving, carving, and visual arts. Local Macao artisans will also participate, adding a unique Macau flavor to the fair.

On the same day, the Cultural Week’s Lusophone Gastronomic Showcase also officially launched. From September 27 to October 2, renowned chefs from five Portuguese-speaking countries—Brazil, Cabo Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Mozambique—will collaborate with local Macau restaurateurs at Fisherman’s Wharf to create a special menu fusing flavors from the PSCs, presenting guests with uniquely crafted culinary delights. In the evenings from September 29 to October 1, chefs from Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, and Mozambique will conduct culinary demonstrations at display stalls on Legend Boulevard at Fisherman’s Wharf, preparing local specialty dishes on-site. On September 30, chefs from Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde will host Lusophone culinary workshops at the Macau University of Science and Technology, sharing their national cooking techniques and food culture with participants.

The 17th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries features a diverse and rich series of activities. We sincerely invite residents and tourists to join in and experience the charm of China and PSCs culture!
