Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Mozambique Visits the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao

On June 28, Maria de Fátima Manso, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Mozambique, visited the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) in Macao.


Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng warmly welcomed State Secretary Manso and her delegation, providing an overview of Forum Macao and the operations of the Permanent Secretariat. He also outlined the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Economic and Trade Cooperation from the 6th Ministerial Conference. State Secretary Manso noted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mozambique and China, with significant achievements in trade, infrastructure, education, training, and agricultural development. The Mozambican government highly values Forum Macao and is committed to advancing the Strategic Plan for Economic and Trade Cooperation (2024-2027). It supports the work of the Permanent Secretariat and aims to leverage Forum Macao’s multilateral mechanisms and Macao’s platform to deepen cooperation with China in various fields. She welcomed Chinese investments in Mozambique’s manufacturing, agriculture, and food safety sectors and expressed hope for further Chinese support in training Mozambican professionals.


The meeting was attended by Mozambique’s Ambassador to China, Maria Gustava, and other delegation members, as well as Deputy Secretaries-General of the Permanent Secretariat Xie Ying, Danilo Afonso Henriques, and Casimiro de Jesus Pinto, along with Mozambique’s designated representative to the Permanent Secretariat, Francisca Reino.


Following the meeting, State Secretary Manso and her delegation visited the Pavilion of China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform, guided by Deputy Secretary-General Casimiro de Jesus Pinto. Members of the Permanent Secretariat also attended a reception celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Mozambique’s independence.
