The Portuguese Mission to Chengdu 2025 is heading to China with 53 athletes, spread across 27 medal events in a total of 10 disciplines. It is worth noting that Portugal is participating in Wushu/Kung Fu for the first time, with athlete Sílva Cruz from the SHE-SI school.

Sílva Cruz will compete in the disciplines Nanquan-Southern Fists and Nan dao-Southern Sabre, and is one of the medal hopefuls after several international podium finishes.

The World Games are intended for sports and disciplines that are not part of the Olympic Games competitive program. “These World Games are opportunities for sports that are not included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic program. Here they have the chance to show their quality. Some of them may feature in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic program. It will be an opportunity for them to grow as athletes,” added the president of the Portuguese Olympic Committee, Fernando Gomes.
