Infraestruturas de Portugal Engenharia SA and China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group Co. Ltd will jointly draw up a plan for improving transport in Mozambique, A Verdade reports.
The Mozambican newspaper says representatives of the companies and the Mozambican Transport and Communications Ministry have signed a deal worth €490,000 (about US$557,200) which provides for the drafting of the plan.
The report says the plan is meant to show where in the country investment in land, sea or air transport can spur development by easing the movement of people and goods.
It quotes Transport and Communications Minister Carlos Mesquita as saying: “We wish to act decisively, so that our market can become competitive.”
