Chinese giant BYD recently kicked off its national car production. This chapter of the story begins in Camaçari, Bahia, and around 500 people, including authorities and journalists from different parts of Brazil and even China, registered the start of work here.
According to company executives, the plan is to assemble around 50,000 cars by the end of 2025 using this system. When at full capacity, this plant will be BYD's largest outside China and an important part of the automaker's global expansion plans, aiming to position itself as a complex that will not only manufacture hybrid and electric cars, but also buses and batteries.
The Camaçari plant promises to create around 20,000 jobs for the region by 2030. There are currently 800 employees already at work and, on the day of the ceremony, the company announced the opening of a further 3,000 jobs.
