Piauí hosts Brazil-China Joint Mathematical Meeting

The Brazilian state of Piauí is hosting the third edition of the Brazil-China Joint Mathematical Meeting from 10 to 14 August in the city of Luís Correia. The international event brings together researchers, professors and postgraduate students from Brazil and China to discuss research in pure, applied and computational mathematics, while strengthening scientific co-operation between the two countries.

 

The meeting is organised by the Brazilian Mathematical Society, the Brazilian Society of Applied and Computational Mathematics and the Chinese Mathematical Society. The programme includes lectures, thematic sessions, scientific poster presentations and discussion sessions among researchers. Topics include cryptography, optimisation, analysis, probability and statistics, as well as applications of mathematics to engineering and artificial intelligence.

 

The event is supported by the Federal University of the Parnaíba Delta and the Piauí State Research Support Foundation, with collaboration from institutions including the University of Campinas, the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics, the Federal University of Piauí, the State University of Piauí and Tsinghua University.

 

In addition to its scientific programme, the meeting forms part of the activities of the 2026 Brazil-China Cultural Year and aims to broaden collaboration between research groups in the two countries, encouraging new projects and academic exchanges.
