The photographic exhibition “Building a Shared Future: China-Brazil” was recently opened at the Stenography Hall of the Chamber of Deputies, in Brazil’s National Congress in Brasília. The exhibition features more than 30 photographs produced by Xinhua News Agency between 1978 and 2026, chronicling nearly five decades of bilateral relations.

The images document political, scientific, economic, sporting and cultural moments. They include encounters between athletes from the two countries, ceremonies marking the signing of scientific and technological co-operation agreements, milestones in the two countries’ satellite development partnership, and the start of local production in Brazil of electric vehicles by Chinese brands.

The exhibition also highlights the deepening of relations between the two countries through the movement of people, ideas and knowledge. The photographs also form a visual archive of the changes that have taken place since diplomatic relations were established in 1974. The initiative forms part of the Brazil-China Cultural Year 2026, which seeks to promote mutual understanding and strengthen exchanges between the two societies.

The exhibition is organised by Xinhua in partnership with parliamentary, academic and cultural organisations, including the Brazil-China Parliamentary Group of the Chamber of Deputies and the Brazil-China Parliamentary Front of the National Congress. It will remain open to the public until 7 August.
