The Festival CAIXA Ano Cultural Brasil-China will arrive in the capital of the State of Paraná on 1 and 2 July, at CAIXA Cultural Curitiba. The event is touring several Brazilian cities, promoting cultural exchange between Brazilian and Chinese artists. In Curitiba, singer, actor, director and playwright Silvero Pereira will perform alongside Ren Yuqing, one of the leading names in China’s jazz scene.
The project celebrates the strengthening of bilateral relations through culture, encouraging encounters between artists, the circulation of artistic productions and public access to different artistic languages. The circuit is the result of a mission carried out in China, which took a delegation of Brazilian artists to promote Brazilian music abroad. The outcomes of that experience are now reaching Brazilian stages through joint performances by artists from the two countries.
In each city, a Brazilian artist who was part of the delegation performs alongside a Chinese guest, in shows that bring together musical traditions, contemporary sounds and different cultural identities. The encounters offer the Brazilian public an opportunity to come into close contact with artistic expressions of Chinese culture, in an exchange that crosses languages, rhythms and cultural references.
