The seminar entitled "Macao’s Successes via the 'One Country, Two Systems': Transmitting the Legacy of Sino-Portuguese Friendship and Writing a New Chapter of the 'One Country, Two Systems' Principle" recently took place in Lisbon, at the premises of the Macao Economic and Commercial Delegation (DECM), on the initiative of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR).

The initiative was part of the exhibition dedicated to the same theme, inaugurated in Lisbon on 20 April, with its display of videos and images remaining open to the public until 28 June. The seminar formed part of this programme, reinforcing the dissemination of the results achieved by Macao under the "one country, two systems" principle.

The event was attended by several figures from diplomatic, academic and political circles, including Minister-Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Portugal, Hu Bin; former Minister of Foreign Affairs, António Martins da Cruz; former head of the Sino-Portuguese Joint Liaison Group and former Ambassador to Beijing, Pedro Catarino; and Professor Vitalino Canas from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. As main speakers, the aforementioned guests explained in depth to those present the enormous significance and the results of the implementation of "one country, two systems" in Macao.

At the opening session, the head of the DECM, Lúcia Abrantes dos Santos, pointed out that, under the guidance of the "one country, two systems" principle, Macao has registered notable progress in the political, economic, social and population welfare fields since its return to the motherland. She also highlighted the importance of showcasing the institutional advantages and vitality of this model, through the perspectives of witnesses, observers and academics from both the Chinese and Portuguese sides, as well as through joint reflection on the trajectory of the MSAR. On that occasion, the head also presented the content of the exhibition, providing participants with a clearer view of Macao's recent evolution and its development path.
