Chinese President Xi Jinping Receives Mozambican President Daniel Chapo

The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, held official talks in Beijing on 21 April with his counterpart from the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping.


The meeting, which marks the high point of the Mozambican President’s State visit to the Asian country, resulted in the signing of new co‑operation instruments aimed at boosting bilateral relations and deepening the bonds between the two peoples.


During the highest‑level dialogue, President Xi Jinping reaffirmed his firm support for Mozambique’s growth trajectory. The Chinese leader emphasised the mutual trust existing between the two nations and the determination to consolidate strategic partnerships that deliver tangible results with a direct impact on improving the living conditions of Mozambicans.


For his part, the Mozambican Head of State stressed that the Government will continue to make every necessary effort to drive the national economy, focusing on the strategic goal of economic independence. He also took the opportunity to thank President Xi for the tariff exemptions granted to Mozambique and 52 other African countries under an agreement due to enter into force on 31 May.
