Mozambican President Daniel Chapo Departs for China with Financing on the Agenda of His Visit

The President of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, is undertaking a seven-day State visit to China, with the main objective of mobilising financing for structural projects in the country and deepening bilateral co-operation within the framework of the global strategic partnership between the two nations.


According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, the economic dimension is a priority of the visit. The Head of State will mobilise resources for financing structural projects with high social and economic impact, as well as boosting the relaunch of the national economy, with a focus on priority sectors, namely infrastructure, mining, energy and agriculture.


The Presidency added that Mozambique intends to strengthen political-diplomatic and economic co-operation with China, as well as deepen co-ordination on matters of common interest on the international agenda, with emphasis on Global South issues, United Nations reform and climate change.


In this context, the spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Jiakun, emphasised at a press conference that it is expected that this visit will promote the deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Mozambique and contribute to the building of a solid China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, as well as strengthening solidarity and co-operation in the Global South.
