On February 12, the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES/MEC) and Beihang University, located in Beijing, signed an international cooperation agreement for science, technology, and innovation. This is the first partnership between the Brazilian agency and a Chinese higher education institution.

The agreement creates the Brazil-China Program for Future Leaders in Scientific and Technological Innovation. The two partners intend to expand joint research and teaching activities involving Brazilian universities and the Chinese institution by training master's and doctoral students at Beihang.

With an investment of R$ 3.9 million, CAPES/MEC will be responsible for the selection process of 24 projects and the payment of scholarships and grants, serving approximately 160 graduate students and 24 professors. Beihang will provide the structure for academic activities, such as access to laboratories and libraries, and exemption from tuition fees. The training will last four weeks.
