The Brazilian film Manas was screened at the opening ceremony of the Brazilian film festival ‘Amazonia: a forest on screen’ at the Palace Cinema (CWTC BJ) in Beijing on the evening of 30 January 2026.
‘It's about the Amazon, it's about the women of Brazil, and it's about Brazilian creation and Brazilian artists. This is about Brazilian films and Brazilian animations,’ said Marcos Galvão, Brazil's ambassador to China, at the opening ceremony of the festival, which runs from 30 January to 8 February.
On Douban, a popular Chinese film review platform, Manas achieved a rating of 7.8. ‘It's great to see productions like this on the other side of the world,’ commented one user. The film also received several awards in China, including Best Director and Best Actress at the Silk Road International Film Festival in China and the Audience Award at the Golden Rooster International Film Section.
The film festival was organised with institutional support from the Brazilian Embassy in China, Broadway Cinematheque, Palace Cinema and Rong Yu Culture Media Co.
