The Portuguese Language Center (CLP) at the Communication University of China (CUC) recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. Highlighting its strategic role in training Portuguese language professionals to strengthen Sino-Lusophone relations, the event held in Beijing brought together academics, diplomats, and media representatives from China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Magda Barbeita, coordinator of the CLP, recalled the CLP's achievements over the past two decades. Founded in 2005 by a tripartite agreement between the UCC, the Camões Institute, and the Portuguese Institute of the Orient during the visit of former Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio, the center has established itself as a benchmark in Portuguese language teaching in China.

At the opening ceremony, the Portuguese ambassador to China, Paulo Jorge Nascimento, highlighted the role of the CLP in training professionals for strategic areas such as diplomacy and trade, contributing significantly to the strengthening of Sino-Lusophone ties.
