The recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for Twinning between the Province of Maputo, Mozambique, and the Province of Jiangxi, People's Republic of China, marked a new stage in decentralized cooperation relations between Mozambique and China.
The ceremony, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, was led by the Secretary of State for Maputo Province, Henriques Bongece. The document lays the groundwork for a twinning agreement that should be formalized in the coming months, with a focus on strengthening economic, cultural, and technological cooperation. According to Bongece, the partnership aims to create a framework for exchange between institutions, companies, and local communities in the two provinces.
"May this memorandum be the first step in a fruitful and lasting partnership, for the benefit of our peoples and the strengthening of relations between Mozambique and China. We are confident that this cooperation will enable the sharing of knowledge, institutional strengthening, and the creation of opportunities for sustainable development," said the Secretary of State.
