Brazil's Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, is leading a mission to China to discuss investments for Brazil and integration between South America and Asia through the Pacific.
The agenda includes a visit to the Port of Shanghai, a strategic point for the South American Integration Routes project. Structured around five routes, the Brazilian government's program aims to optimize logistics and strengthen trade with neighboring countries and Asia, connecting different regions of Brazil through projects involving highways, railways, waterways, ports, and airports.
Operated by the Shanghai International Port Group, the Port of Shanghai connects to more than 700 ports in over 200 countries and is the Asian connection to the Port of Chancay in Peru, which is part of the Brazilian integration project. When comparing maritime routes for exports between Brazil and Shanghai, the ministry highlights that the Pacific route (Chancay route) is the most efficient.
