Rodrigo Martins honored with the Chinese Government Friendship Award 2025

Rodrigo Martins, Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Coordinator of CENIMAT, was one of 50 personalities honored with the Chinese Government Friendship Award 2025.


This award is the highest distinction granted by the People's Republic of China to foreign experts who have made exceptional contributions to the country's economic and social development.


The distinction recognizes Rodrigo Martins' role in promoting scientific exchange and international cooperation with China. Since 1986, he has been a regular presence in the country, standing out as co-founder of the China-Portugal Advanced Materials Innovation Center and Visiting Professor at Wuhan University of Technology. As President of the European Academy of Sciences, he has also contributed to strengthening scientific and technological cooperation relations between Europe and China.
