Recently, automaker BYD inaugurated a new industrial complex in Camaçari (BA), on the site that formerly housed the old Ford factory. The investment, valued at R$ 5.5 billion, places Brazil at the center of the company's global strategy to expand the production of electric and hybrid vehicles. The venture is expected to generate around 20,000 direct and indirect jobs.

With more than a decade of presence in the country, the company is betting on the Brazilian market as a base for the advancement of clean mobility in Latin America. The Bahia unit has an initial capacity of 150,000 cars per year, with plans to double the volume in the second phase of the project.

In addition to the Bahia unit, BYD has plants in Campinas (SP) and Manaus (AM) and is already studying new expansions on the continent. The investment reinforces Brazil's leading role in the transition to a low-carbon automotive industry, combining job creation, technological innovation, and sustainable production.
