In a recent interview with China Media Group, Mozambican President Daniel Chapo said that food security is a major challenge facing Mozambique, despite the country's abundant resources, including arable land and water resources, because the realization of its agricultural potential has been hampered by a lack of modern technology and experience.

Chapo called for a closer agricultural partnership with China, highlighting the important role of Chinese experience in strengthening food security and transforming the African country's agricultural sector. “We believe that China and Mozambique should open a new chapter of high-quality cooperation in infrastructure and agricultural development, not only during the last 50 years, but during the next five decades,” Chapo said.

Chinese investment and technological assistance have helped the country solve many problems, for example Chinese business investment in Gaza province, which produces high-quality rice for export to global markets.
