Brazil’s Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, recently presented the project for the construction of the Technological Institute of Intelligent Medicine (ITMI-Brasil), the first intelligent hospital in the Unified Health System (SUS), to the New Development Bank. The initiative involves financing of 320 million US dollars, which has already been approved by the External Financing Commission (Cofiex), and is now awaiting evaluation by the financial institution. The information was published by Agência Gov.

“We presented a project to the BRICS bank for the development of an intelligent hospital that uses information technology and artificial intelligence, based on experiments that are taking place in China. It's a big step for Brazil to enter this technological revolution,” said Minister Padilha, handing over the protocol to the president of the New Development Bank, Dilma Rousseff.

As well as building the hospital, the project includes the creation of a network of intelligent Intensive Care Units (ICUs) throughout the country. The initial plan foresees the implementation of advanced technologies in 10 SUS ICUs, with the expectation of expanding to other units in the coming years.
