Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$82.137 billion in the period from January to May 2025. It represented a 11.09 percent decrease year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$47.559 billion to China in the five months of 2025 – a decrease of 18.50 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$34.578 billion in the same period, an increase of 1.61 percent year-on-year.
The total value of merchandise traded in May between the parties topped US$21.131 billion, an increase of 4.08 percent from the prior-year period. The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$13.262 billion, up 9.63 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$7.869 billion in May, a decrease of 4.09 percent compared with the previous year.
