The Portuguese group JAP, official importer of Chinese brands Foton and GAC, has now won the representation of Nio, one of the largest electric car brands in China. “The national debut is scheduled for the last quarter of 2025 and will feature a multi-brand offering that includes Nio—a global benchmark in the premium segment—and the new Firefly brand, aimed at urban and digital audiences,” JAP said in a statement.

“Nio represents the future of premium mobility, and we are proud to lead its entry into Portugal,” said Jan Oehmicke, director of the JAP group. The Chinese brand says it stands out for “innovative solutions such as battery exchange stations, which allow a discharged battery to be replaced with a fully charged one in less than three minutes,” and this solution “is currently under review and may be introduced to Portuguese customers in the future.”

Founded in 1904, the JAP Group employs over 3,500 people and represents around 15 automotive brands.
