Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$225.179 billion in the period from January to December 2024. It represented a 1.95 percent increase year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$139.699 billion to China in 2024, down 5.27 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$85.481 billion in the same period, an increase of 16.46 percent year-on-year, according to Chinese official data.
The total value of merchandise traded in December of 2024 between the parties topped US$16.593 billion, down by 20.61 percent from the previous year. The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$9.847 billion in December, down by 32.14 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$6.746 billion, an increase of 5.57 percent compared with the previous year.
