Africa Great Wall Mining Development (AGWMD), a Chinese-owned mining company, has spent around US$172,000 to equip the infrastructure of Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), the oldest higher education institution in Mozambique.
To this end, the memorandum of understanding was signed by the rector of UEM and the representative of the general director of AGWMD in an act that took place on January 23 in Maputo.
The amount will be invested in the rehabilitation of existing water wells, installation of new wells and their integration into the water supply system on the UEM Campus in Maputo.
The agreement also aims to sponsor research and innovation projects, scientific conferences, job fairs, scientific fairs and exhibitions, innovation competitions, including internships for final-year students in the mining sector.
