Representatives of China and Angola have signed an agreement whereby the China Development Bank will give Angola a US$2 billion line of credit, Angop reports.

The Angolan state-run news agency says the agreement was signed during Angolan President João Lourenço’s two-day state visit to China, which ends today.

The report says Angola will spend the money it borrows on new infrastructure, but does not say when Angola will have to pay it back.

Representatives of China and Angola also signed agreements on inter-governmental co-operation, on taking measures announced at the Sino-African Summit meeting in Beijing last month, on double taxation and on countering fraud and tax evasion, Angop says.

Separately, Xinhua reports that Mr Lourenço had meetings in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Mr Xi as telling his guest that China and Angola should integrate their development plans more closely, co-operate more in fields they already co-operate in, find new fields to co-operate in, and jointly promote the industrialisation of Angola and the diversification of its economy.

Angola is willing to co-operate more with China in hydroelectric power generation, electricity distribution, road construction, railway construction and making Angola a better place for Chinese companies to invest in, Xinhua quotes Mr Lourenço as saying.
