Angola's secretary of State for Labour and Social Security, Pedro José Filipe, highlighted China's experience in vocational training and the opportunities for bilateral cooperation during the 2026 World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, held from 15 to 17 October in Tianjin.
He stressed the connection between training and the needs of industry in China, as well as the coordination between companies, educational institutions and civil society. He said this experience was relevant to Angola's economic diversification and industrial and technological development.
Filipe argued that vocational training should be a priority, recalling that more than 60% of Angola's population is under 30. He underlined that this training must meet the needs of the labour market and development goals, to improve young people's employment opportunities.
The secretary also said Angola was keen to benefit from the Luban Workshops, teaching and vocational training projects developed jointly by Chinese and foreign institutions. He highlighted the combination of theory and practice and their role in improving young people's skills.
In the field of artificial intelligence, he considered that cooperation with China could support industry, technology and education. He noted the potential of these tools to address the shortage of teachers and infrastructure and to reach the most remote communities.
