Shaquila Aboobacar Mahomed, Inspector-General of the General Inspectorate of Food and Economic Safety (IGSAE), recently met a representative of the Chinese Embassy in Maputo to deepen bilateral co-operation between the two countries.

The meeting focused on food safety, economic oversight, institutional capacity-building and the sharing of experience, with a view to identifying solutions to modernise inspection mechanisms in Mozambique.

The two sides discussed further opportunities for collaboration, including ongoing training for inspectors, technical exchanges, the sharing of good practices and the adoption of technological solutions for inspection processes.

The Embassy representative expressed openness to deeper co-operation, including through training activities, study visits, seminars and exchanges with Chinese specialists and counterpart institutions.

Co-operation could also include identifying technologies to improve efficiency and modernise economic inspections in the country.

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of institutional co-operation in strengthening the bonds of friendship and partnership between Mozambique and China, with a focus on capacity-building and improving inspection mechanisms.
