Chinese manufacturers of energy storage systems Jinko Solar and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) recently established partnerships with Brazilian companies to promote the nationalisation of equipment and participate in Brazil’s first battery auctions in the power sector, scheduled for December.

Jinko ESS, part of the JinkoSolar Holding group, signed a memorandum of understanding with UCB Power aimed at exploring local production of energy storage systems. The co-operation seeks to create conditions for the equipment to meet the local content requirements of the 2026 Power Capacity Reserve Auctions – “National Storage”, scheduled for 2 December.

The nationalisation process is expected to cover battery packs, management software, inverters and other infrastructure. According to UCB Power, this process could also facilitate access to Brazilian financing lines, including those provided by the Brazilian Development Bank.

CATL, in turn, announced a strategic partnership with the Brazilian manufacturer Moura to participate in the same auction. The initiative seeks to combine the Chinese company’s technological solutions with Moura’s local market knowledge and facilitate production that meets national content requirements.
