Brazilian institution presents investment opportunities in the Manaus Free Trade Zone to Chinese businesspeople

Brazil’s Superintendence of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (Suframa) received a delegation of Chinese businesspeople on 31 August to present investment opportunities in the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM). During the meeting, the institution explained the Manaus Free Trade Zone’s tax regime and the guarantees afforded to international investors under its regulatory framework.

The visitors highlighted legal certainty and the predictability of tax incentives as decisive factors for new business ventures in the state of Amazonas. The delegation examined the conditions for setting up innovation-related enterprises and expressed interest in technology transfer and the supply of materials and components to local production chains.

Suframa also presented the principles of the Basic Production Process (PPB), the available infrastructure and opportunities for expansion in high-tech sectors. Suframa Superintendent Leopoldo Montenegro said that attracting new investment could diversify the regional economy, create skilled jobs and strengthen Manaus’s position as a leading technology hub in Brazil.

According to Suframa, the meeting sought to identify forms of co-operation linking the transfer of technical knowledge and the attraction of productive capital with the economic sustainability of the Amazon region. At the end of the meeting, the Chinese representatives expressed their willingness to provide further clarification and continue assessing the feasibility of the projects planned for the region.
