China has once again allowed the importation of Brazilian chicken meat, a measure recently announced and celebrated by Agriculture Minister Carlos Fávaro during the Buenos Aires Forum. “It is another important step, but above all, it is recognition of the quality of Brazilian products,” said Fávaro.

The minister pointed out that the country has been free of avian flu in commercial flocks for almost 20 years and that the recent outbreak on an isolated farm was quickly and efficiently controlled. “It happened on one farm, and we had the opportunity to show the robustness of the system. It did not spread beyond that farm.”

China is the largest global importer of Brazilian chicken, accounting for more than 14% of exports in the sector. The country's sanitary recognition reinforces Brazil's image as a reliable supplier of animal protein, increasing the international competitiveness of agribusiness.
