Recently, the Brazilian Ministry of Transport welcomed representatives from China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) to discuss opportunities for cooperation and investment in the Brazilian railway sector.
For Brazil's National Secretary of Railway Transport, Leonardo Ribeiro, the exchange of experiences with the Chinese company is strategic in view of the infrastructure challenges in Brazil. “It is always impressive to see how China has international experience in the railway sector. For our country, this is fundamental, as we plan to build new railways. I was struck by the high-precision engineering applied to special engineering structures, such as bridges and tunnels. Our topography is challenging, and having companies that specialize in this area is crucial,” he said.
During the meeting, the possibility of implementing innovative business models, such as Transit Oriented Development (TOD), which combines railway projects with real estate development, was also discussed. “We are evaluating this possibility for future passenger transport projects in Brazil,” added the secretary.
