Recently, IPAM (Amazon Environmental Research Institute) Brazil welcomed a delegation from China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment to Belém to discuss COP30 and the establishment of partnerships.
For Lucimar Souza, director of Territorial Development at IPAM, the occasion strengthens institutional ties with China. "The Brazil-China relationship is fundamental for us Brazilians, both in terms of trade and environmental issues, especially given the challenges facing the Amazon and the Cerrado. IPAM was recently on a mission to China, where we signed research agreements, so it is a great time to expand partnerships."
Yang Jun, head of the Chinese delegation in Brazil and department director, values the strengthening of connections between the two countries. “We are very grateful for the opportunity to meet with IPAM and hope that the relationship will continue, with new partnerships in environmental education, for example.”
