The new Sustainable Food Laboratory was recently inaugurated at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), in partnership with South China Agricultural University (SCAU). The event represents a step forward in scientific and technological cooperation between Brazil and China, with a focus on food security and sustainable agricultural production. The initiative is the result of UFMT joining CLAC-SFIC (China-LAC Sustainable Food Innovation Center).
During the event, Yang Weicai, representative of the Yazhouwan National Laboratory, emphasized that food security is vital for human survival and development. “May this event be a new starting point for us to work together towards a more prosperous and sustainable future for humanity,” he said.
Senator Wellington Fagundes also participated in the ceremony and highlighted China's strategic role in Brazilian trade and cooperation. “Since 2009, China has been Brazil's largest trading partner. Now, our countries are building another bridge in the very important field of sustainable food security,” he said.
