China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), the world's largest manufacturer of railway equipment, has delivered the first batch of 100 container wagons to Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) for the transport of minerals by rail between Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The equipment, transported aboard a COSCO Shipping vessel, represents the first phase of a total order of 275 units manufactured by CRRC for LAR, the railway and port infrastructure concessionaire responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance of the Lobito corridor.

According to LAR, the new wagons will be put into immediate operation, as they “will play a key role in the transport of copper, sulfur, and other goods shared between the two states operating along the railway line.”

“The delivery is part of LAR’s broader strategy to modernize railway infrastructure, increase operational efficiency, and promote cross-border trade in the region,” the statement said.
